Mountain Park, Madinah: RTC helps complete the city’s first park lit without poles
Rakeez Thabitah Contractor took part in completing Mountain Park in the King Fahd District, which Madinah Region Municipality opened on more than 335,000 square metres as the first park in the city lit without poles.

Rakeez Thabitah Contractor (RTC) took part in completing Mountain Park in the King Fahd District of Madinah, a Madinah Region Municipality park that sits beside one of the district’s largest mountains. The contract period for the completion works ran from 21 August 2023 to 20 November 2024.
The park in figures
Madinah Region Municipality opened Mountain Park on 31 December 2023 on a site of more than 335,000 square metres. According to the municipality’s announcement, the park has 110,000 square metres of lawns surrounded by more than 1,800 trees and 1,550 shrubs, a 1,850-metre main path, a 2,400-metre outer promenade and 2,100 metres of secondary footpaths, with 261 parking spaces, 27 of them for people with disabilities.
The lawns are served by modern irrigation networks, and the park includes children’s play areas and seating at the foot of the mountain.
Lighting without poles
The municipality described Mountain Park as the first park in Madinah to use lighting without poles. The footpaths are lit from the ground and the rest of the site uses indirect light, which keeps a sense of privacy for visitors and brings out the rocky character of the mountain setting.
A neighbourhood destination
In November 2025 the municipality included Mountain Park in its winter programme, Hadaiq Munawwara, alongside the Housing district and Shuran Pathways, keeping it a destination for King Fahd District residents and visitors to the city.
Mountain Park is part of RTC’s work for Madinah Region Municipality in irrigation, planting and landscaping and site development, alongside Shuran Pathways and the Housing Walkway. Details of the contract and the project’s photographs are published on the project page.
